About Ruby-Rose
Hi there, my name is Ruby.
I am a disability support worker with over five years of experience providing support in a range of settings, including day centres, community environments, and most extensively through one-on-one support in peopleβs homes. I have experience and confidence supporting people with disability, chronic illness, and mental health challenges, and I am affirming and experienced in supporting people from the LGBTIQ+ community. My approach is person-centred, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive, and grounded in respect, dignity, and choice.
I am kind, patient, and non-judgemental, and I place strong importance on building trusting, collaborative support relationships. I work in inclusive and reflective ways, with an awareness of how ableism and other barriers can show up in support settings. I aim to provide support that respects autonomy, reduces power imbalances, and centres each personβs voice and preferences. I am committed to ongoing learning and growth in my practice.
Alongside my professional experience, I also bring lived experience of illness and disability, which informs my empathy and approach to respectful support. I genuinely enjoy supporting people to live the lives they choose and aim to be someone they feel safe, comfortable, and respected working alongside. Outside of work, I enjoy the ocean, nature, games, and reading.
