What is Behaviour Support?

In plain English

Specialist support that helps reduce behaviours of concern by understanding why they happen and building positive alternatives. Delivered by registered behaviour support practitioners.

Behaviour support helps when a person shows behaviours that put themselves or others at risk. A registered behaviour support practitioner looks at why the behaviour is happening and builds a positive behaviour support plan around it. The aim is to improve quality of life and reduce distress, not simply to manage or stop the behaviour. This support is funded under Capacity Building.
