NDIS explained

How much does an NDIS plan manager cost?

Updated 19 October 2026 · Checked against official NDIS and government sources

In plain English

An NDIS plan manager costs nothing out of your support budgets. The NDIA adds separate funding to your plan to pay for it. In 2026/27 the price limit is a monthly fee of up to $104.45, the same in every part of Australia, and it was held at the previous rate. There is no separate set up fee in the current price limits.

What a plan manager charges in 2026/27

Plan management has one support item in the 2026/27 NDIS pricing schedule: Plan Management, Monthly Fee (14_034_0127_8_3). The price limit is $104.45 a month. Unlike most supports, the limit is the same in national, remote and very remote areas.

Support coordination and plan management price limits were held at their previous rates for 2026/27, so the monthly fee did not rise on 1 July 2026. The current price limits do not include a separate set up or establishment fee for plan management.

Who pays

If you ask to be plan managed, the NDIA includes funding in your plan to pay a plan manager. This funding is separate from your other NDIS supports and can only be used to pay for a plan manager. It sits in the Improved Life Choices category, called Choice and Control in PACE plans.

That means choosing plan management does not reduce the money you have for support workers, therapy or equipment. It is also not affected by the October 2026 funding reset, which only applies to community participation and daily living skills supports.

What the fee should cover

The monthly fee pays for the ongoing financial management of your plan. A plan manager will usually:

  • Receive your provider invoices and check them against your plan and the price limits
  • Claim from your plan and pay your providers
  • Keep records of invoices and payments, which plan managers must keep for 3 years
  • Give you a regular statement of what has been spent and what is left
  • Help you build your own skills in managing your plan

Things to check before you sign

Plan managers must be registered with the NDIS Commission and recorded as a my provider for your plan before they can be paid. Make a service agreement with them, and ask:

  • How quickly they pay providers once an invoice arrives
  • How you see your balance, including what is left in the current funding period
  • How they handle invoices above the price limit
  • How they will keep up with the 90 day claim limit from 1 December 2026
  • How to end the agreement if you want to change plan managers

Changes coming for plan management

From 1 October 2027, the NDIA will set up a panel of approved plan managers. If yours is not on it, you will have 6 months to move to one that is. Under new framework plans, starting to roll out from 1 April 2027, plan management can be added to your plan separately from the assessment of your support needs, if you ask for it and are eligible.

Common questions

Does a plan manager come out of my NDIS budget?

Not out of your support budgets. The NDIA adds separate funding to your plan that can only be used for plan management.

How much is the NDIS plan management fee for 2026/27?

Up to $104.45 a month. The price limit is the same across Australia and was held at its previous rate for 2026/27.

Is there a set up fee for NDIS plan management?

The current NDIS price limits only include the monthly fee, with no separate set up fee item for plan management.

Can I add a plan manager in the middle of my plan?

Yes. You can ask the NDIA to change how your funding is managed at any time, and it can usually be done as a plan variation.

Can a plan manager charge more than the price limit?

No. Plan management is a price limited support, so a plan manager cannot claim more than $104.45 a month from your plan in 2026/27.
