NDIS plan management panel from 1 October 2027: choosing an approved plan manager
By the Supportd team · Checked against official sources on 14 October 2026
The short answer
From 1 October 2027 the NDIA sets up a panel of approved plan management providers. If your plan manager is not on the list, you will have 6 months to move to one that is.
What is changing
The new law clarifies the definition and registration requirements for plan managers, so the government can commission a panel of providers. From 1 October 2027 you will choose your plan manager from that approved list. If your current plan manager is not on it, you have a 6 month transition period to move.
For new framework plans, plan management can be added to your plan separately from the assessment of your disability support needs, if you ask for it and are eligible.
Other changes plan managed participants will notice sooner
- Plan managers must keep records of NDIS payments for 3 years (since 27 August 2026)
- Claims must be made within 90 days of the service (from 1 December 2026), so get invoices to your plan manager quickly
- Plan managers have been told to only pay SIL invoices from providers who are registered or have applied
What to do now
- Nothing changes yet. Keep using your current plan manager.
- In 2027, check whether your plan manager is on the approved panel. Ask them directly, they will know.
- If you need to switch, use the 6 month window. Do not leave it until the last month.
