NDIS explained

What is PRODA, and is it still used for the NDIS?

Updated 19 October 2026 · Checked against official NDIS and government sources

In plain English

PRODA, short for Provider Digital Access, is Services Australia's online identity and login system for providers. It was how NDIS providers logged in to the NDIA's provider portals and the NDIS Commission's portals. The NDIA has replaced PRODA with myID, the government's Digital ID app, and Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM), and the NDIS Commission is making the same change. PRODA is still used for other government services.

What PRODA is

PRODA is run by Services Australia. You register an individual account to prove who you are, and if you act for a business you register the organisation too. One PRODA account can then give access to a range of government services for providers.

In the NDIS, PRODA was the gateway to the NDIA's myplace provider portal and my NDIS provider portal, and to the NDIS Commission's portals for registration, incidents and worker screening.

The move to myID and RAM

To make it harder for scammers and fraudsters to get into NDIS systems, the government has replaced PRODA with two services:

  • myID: the Australian Government's Digital ID app. It confirms who you are as a person, and for NDIS portals you need at least a Standard identity strength
  • Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM): links your myID to a business ABN, so you can act on behalf of that business online

Where PRODA stands for NDIS portals now

NDIA provider portals: the NDIA required all providers and their staff to use myID and RAM from 10 November 2025, and PRODA access to the NDIS provider portals was discontinued after that date.

NDIS Commission portals: the Commission has also moved to myID and RAM, and opened a new NDIS Commission Portal on 12 October 2026. Its guidance has allowed people who have trouble setting up myID to keep using PRODA for now, through a Continue with PRODA link on the login page. Treat this as a fallback, not a long term option, and set up myID and RAM.

Participants: self managed and plan managed participants who use the Commission's portal, for example to check a worker's screening status, can use either PRODA or myID.

Setting up myID and RAM as a sole trader

Sole traders count as both a worker and a business, so there are two parts:

  • Set up the myID app with your personal email address. If you already use myID for the ATO, Medicare or Centrelink, use the same account
  • Log in to RAM with myID and link your business ABN as its principal authority
  • Create an authorisation in RAM for yourself, choosing NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission under agency access if you need the Commission's portals
  • Accept the authorisation using the code emailed to you. It is valid for 7 days

For organisations with staff

The principal authority, such as a director or eligible associate, links the business in RAM first. They can then authorise staff, or make someone an authorisation administrator who can authorise others. Each staff member needs their own myID, with a full legal name that matches, and a business email only they can access.

Where PRODA is still used

PRODA has not disappeared everywhere. Services Australia still uses it for a range of other provider services, so health professionals may still need a PRODA account outside the NDIS. For NDIS work, set up myID and RAM.

Scammers target PRODA and other government logins. Never share your login or codes, and be wary of emails or calls asking you to verify your account.

Common questions

Can I still use PRODA for the NDIS provider portal?

No. The NDIA required myID and RAM for its provider portals from 10 November 2025 and discontinued PRODA access after that date.

What replaced PRODA for NDIS providers?

myID, the government's Digital ID app, together with Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM), which links your myID to your business.

Who do I call for help with myID or RAM?

The ATO runs help for both. Call 1300 287 539 and choose option 2 for myID or option 3 for RAM.

Do NDIS participants need PRODA?

Most participants do not. Self managed and plan managed participants who use the NDIS Commission's portal, for example to check worker screening, can log in with PRODA or myID.

What does PRODA stand for?

Provider Digital Access. It is Services Australia's online identity verification and authentication system for providers.
