What is Carer?
In plain English
A family member, friend or other person who provides unpaid support. The NDIS recognises that carers play a key role and may fund supports that give carers a break.
A carer is a family member, friend or other person who gives unpaid support to someone with disability. The NDIS recognises that carers carry a real load, and a participant plan can include supports that give the carer a genuine break. Carers can also get help in their own right through the Carer Gateway. Looking after the carer helps keep the whole support arrangement sustainable.
