What is Advocacy?

In plain English

Support to help you understand your rights, speak up and be heard in your dealings with the NDIS. Disability advocacy organisations provide this free and work independently of the NDIA.

A disability advocate helps you understand your rights and put your case clearly, whether that is at a plan meeting, during a review, or in a complaint. Advocacy is independent, which means the advocate works for you and not for the NDIA or any provider. Most advocacy is free and provided by funded community organisations. It can make a real difference when a decision feels unfair or a process feels overwhelming.
