How Supportd helps

Three steps, and a real person on your side.

  1. Tell us what your parent needs

Their suburb, the kind of help, and whether it is Support at Home funded or paid privately. If you are not sure yet, say so.

  2. A real person looks for you

Someone on our team looks for providers near them who take aged care clients and have room to help, and comes back to you within a few hours.

  3. You choose, no obligation

We only share your details with the providers we match you with. Matching is free for families.

Supportd is not part of My Aged Care. We cannot assess eligibility or speed up funding; we help you find providers once you know what your parent needs.

Paying for care

Support at Home or paying privately.

There are two ways to pay for help at home, and you can use both, for example paying privately for some help while you wait for funding.

GOVERNMENT FUNDED

Support at Home

The Australian Government program that pays for aged care at home. It started on 1 November 2025 and replaced Home Care Packages.

  • Starts with an aged care assessment through My Aged Care
  • Once approved, there may be a wait for funding
  • All services come through one registered provider you choose
  • Your parent pays a contribution towards some services, based on the service and their income and assets
  • Clinical care such as nursing is fully funded

PAYING PRIVATELY

Paying a provider privately

You pay a provider directly. No assessment and no waitlist: help can start as soon as you find the right provider.

  • For people who are not eligible for funded care
  • For people approved but still waiting for funding
  • For more help than the Support at Home budget covers
  • You pay the full price, as it is not subsidised
  • Ask about experience, insurance and background checks, and get the price in writing

Questions families ask

Common questions

Is Support at Home the same as a Home Care Package?

Support at Home replaced the Home Care Packages Program on 1 November 2025. People who had a package moved across with funding equivalent to their previous package level.

How long is the wait for Support at Home funding?

It depends on the priority category set at the assessment (urgent, high, medium or standard) and the date of approval. My Aged Care publishes the current estimated wait for each category and updates it as new estimates come out.

Can we pay for help while we wait for funding?

Yes. You can pay a provider privately at any time, including while you wait for Support at Home funding to be allocated. Private services are not subsidised, so you pay the full price.

Does Supportd assess eligibility or speed up funding?

No. Assessments and funding only come through My Aged Care. Supportd helps with the next step: finding providers near your parent who have room to help, whether you are using Support at Home or paying privately.

Does Supportd cost anything for families?

No. Searching and matching are free for families. Providers pay a flat subscription to be listed, and that is how Supportd is paid.
