What a my provider is
When your plan is created in the NDIA's PACE system, you can record the providers you work with regularly. The NDIA calls these your my providers. It used to call them participant endorsed providers, which is why many people still talk about endorsing a provider.
Recording a provider tells the NDIA that this provider is allowed to claim from your plan when they deliver an NDIS support to you. It replaces the service bookings used in older plans.
Which supports must have a my provider
For most supports, recording a provider is your choice. For some it is required. You must record a my provider if you have funding for:
- Supported Independent Living (SIL)
- Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)
- Home and living supports
- Behaviour support
- A plan manager, support coordinator or psychosocial recovery coach
How it works with each way of managing funding
If your funding is NDIA managed, the NDIA pays my providers when they make a correct claim. If a provider who is not recorded claims for an NDIA managed support, the NDIA sends you an SMS and checks with you before paying. You can accept or dispute the claim in the my NDIS participant portal.
If you are plan managed, your plan manager must be recorded as a my provider to be paid. You do not have to record the other providers your plan manager pays, unless they deliver one of the supports listed above.
If you self manage, you do not need to record my providers.
How to record or change a my provider
The NDIA can record your my providers at your plan meeting, plan implementation meeting or a check in. You can also add, change or remove them at any time:
- In the my NDIS participant portal, where you accept or decline provider requests in the relationships tab
- By talking to your my NDIS contact
- By calling the NDIA on 1800 800 110
- By submitting an enquiry through the NDIA service hub
For providers: how to be recorded
You can send the participant a new relationship request in the my NDIS provider portal, choosing the my provider or plan manager role. If you deliver supports in more than one specialised support category, send a separate request for each. The start date must be on or after the first day of the participant's plan.
Providers with an active service booking when a participant's new plan is approved are usually recorded automatically. Support coordinators and recovery coaches are recorded through the request for service process. If the participant contacts the NDIA instead, make sure they have your NDIS provider registration number, ABN and legal and trading names.
Being recorded matters for cash flow. The NDIA says valid claims from my providers are usually paid within 2 to 3 business days, while claims from providers who are not recorded can take about 10 business days.
Tips for participants
Only accept relationship requests from providers you actually use, and check the support category and dates. When you change providers, end the old relationship and tell the previous provider. If you get an SMS about a claim you do not recognise, dispute it. The NDIA will never ask you to reply to that SMS, click a link or give personal information.
