What a support item number does
Every support the NDIS funds is listed as a support item with its own number, name, unit and price limit. When a provider, plan manager or self managed participant claims from a plan, the claim names the support item. That is how the NDIA checks the support fits the plan and is within the price limit.
People also call these line items, line item numbers or support codes. They all mean the same thing.
How to read the number
Take 01_013_0107_1_1, Assistance with Self Care Activities, Standard, Saturday. The five parts are:
- 01: the support category, here Assistance with Daily Life
- 013: a sequence number that identifies the item within the category
- 0107: the registration group, here Daily Personal Activities
- 1: the outcome domain, here Daily Living
- 1: the support purpose, where 1 is core, 2 is capital and 3 is capacity building
Outcome domains in the number
The fourth part links the support to one of eight outcome domains in the NDIS Outcomes Framework:
- 1 Daily Living
- 2 Home
- 3 Health and Wellbeing
- 4 Lifelong Learning
- 5 Work
- 6 Social and Community Participation
- 7 Relationships
- 8 Choice and Control

Suffixes for claim types
In the 2026/27 pricing schedule, therapy items also appear with short suffixes on the same number, each with its own maximum amount: _CA for cancellation, _NF for non face to face, _PT for provider travel, _RR for NDIA requested reports and _TH for telehealth. The support catalogue shows the same information as yes or no columns for each item.
Choosing the right item
Claim against the item that most accurately describes what was delivered, when and where. If an item exists for a specific type of professional, claims for that work must use it. For time based supports, the day and time of the support decide the item, not the worker's shift.
Items change. The NDIA moves items it plans to switch off to a legacy list with an end date, so check the current support catalogue at least each July and after any mid year pricing update.
