NDIS pricing for 2026/27: new price limits and what is coming next
By the Supportd team · Checked against official sources on 14 October 2026
The short answer
Since 27 August 2026 the Minister, not the NDIA, decides NDIS price limits. The 2026/27 limits were set on 24 September 2026. The government is consulting on lower prices for some supports from unregistered providers, recommended to start 1 January 2027, and the pricing schedule will be updated for the SCHADS award change on 1 December 2026.
Who sets NDIS prices now
From 27 August 2026 the Minister for Disability and the NDIS became the decision maker on NDIS pricing, taking advice from the NDIA. The first pricing determination under the new law was made in September 2026 and set the 2026/27 price limits, which align with the pricing the NDIA had already published.
Main 2026/27 changes
- Support worker price limits rose in line with the Fair Work annual wage increase. The standard weekday daytime limit for self care support is $73.58 an hour in most of Australia, higher in remote and very remote areas
- Support coordination and plan management price limits were held at their previous rates
- Some therapy prices were adjusted to line up with comparable benchmarks
Proposed: lower prices for unregistered providers
The NDIA's Annual Pricing Review recommended differentiated pricing, where some supports cost less when delivered by an unregistered provider, starting 1 January 2027. The review recommended a 10% lower price for social, community and civic participation supports from unregistered providers. As of October 2026 this is still under consultation and not final.
SCHADS award change from 1 December 2026
On 11 September 2026 the Fair Work Commission decided on Schedule E of the SCHADS Award as part of its gender based undervaluation review. Award changes take effect on 1 December 2026, and the government says the 2026/27 pricing schedule will be updated later this year to reflect any required changes.
What to do now
- Check your service agreements against the current price limits.
- Self managed participants are not bound by price limits in the same way, but they are a useful benchmark.
- Unregistered providers delivering community participation: model your income if prices drop 10% from January 2027.
